engineering tech change
At PhonePe, we strongly believe in ‘Positive Disruption’ — in building technology that helps all our stakeholders positively, by increasing the size of the pie for everyone in our operating ecosystem. We believe in sharing what we have learnt in our journey. This is a key step towards our vision of creating financial inclusion for a Billion Indians, and that is the reason we launched ‘etc’ — engineering tech change!
As part of ‘etc’, here is a unique initiative to bring together Women in Tech & Product roles across industries. This series of events is designed to openly share Tech learnings from PhonePe, with women aspiring to build their careers in the growing FinTech ecosystem.
Theme - ‘Scale’ and its relevance today
One of the primary reasons why PhonePe is able to handle billions of transactions per month is because we strongly believe in ‘Simplicity builds scalability’. All our engineering systems were built for scale. Our Tech team spends considerable time and energy in database sharding and load communication to reduce our failure rate.
We also scaled our infrastructure components that provided observability, alerting and automated algorithmic corrective measures. This helped in building our engineering ecosystem to scale seamlessly with exponential growth. ‘etc’ interactions will provide a rare insight into what makes the systems at PhonePe work seamlessly to power millions of transactions and make lives better for the people of India.
